Notes on Custom Gametype Support:

Custom gametype support is somewhat tricky. Normally in a CE map, when you make new weapons, you make completely new tags with new names. When I made my new weapons (the new versions of the old weapons), I initially used new tags and names. However, because custom gametypes only replace the default weapons, making a "shotgun slayer" gametype would not do anything, because it's only set up to replace default Halo weapons, and all the weapon pickups on the map are new weapon pickups. Furthermore, with the "Generic starting weapon" option (the one Slayer Pro uses to give you the assault rifle AND pistol to start), it would only give you a default assault rifle and default pistol, not an HDM assault rifle or pistol.

So, what I did is replace all the original default weapons directly with versions of my weapons using the same names. This way, the custom equipment options recognize every weapon and replace it correspondingly. The only hitch here, is that to place battle rifle spawns in the apropriate areas, the pistol tag had to be replaced with the battle rifle tag. This means that if you make a "pistols" game, it will replace all the weapons on the map with battle rifles and plasma pistols, not pistols and plasma pistols. Thus, there is no way to play a game with all HDM pistols, unfortunately, but there was no way around it.

However, becuase I still want you to start with the HDM pistol, not the BR, the default starting equipment tag is the HDM pistol tag, not the original pistol tag, which would give you a battle rifle to start. This means that because the starting equipment is a "custom" weapon, the gametype will not replace it. If you make a "shotgun slayer" gametype, you will still start with the pistol, not the shotgun, unless you choose the "generic starting equipment" option instead of the "default starting equipment" option.

The "generic" starting equipment is normally the pistol and assault rifle. However, I think my new assault rifle is too powerfull to spawn with, so for now I've chosen to use just the plasma pistol as the "generic" starting equipment for my mod. Otherwise, everyone who didn't like what I did with the pistol would just wuss out and choose Slayer Pro, which since the AR is now almost as powerfull as the Halo 2 BR, would ruin much of the balance I'm trying to acheive with the mod. PP start serves the dual purpose of giving you a different weak starting weapon to choose from, while still giving you the option of starting with the main weapon of a 1-weapon gametype. If I had an SMG in the mod, the SMG could allow you to spawn with a weak automatic weapon, instead of a weak single shot weapon; giving you a little variety, but still limiting the power of a recently spawned player considerably. However, since the SMG would register as a "custom" weapon, it would disable all option of starting with the "1" weapon in a 1-weapon gametype. IMO, this is not such a huge sacrifice, so I may actually consider this, but untill there is a good SMG model/tag set for public use, the PP will remain the "generic" start.
